Indiana Momes with Marianna's class

A few weeks ago I volunteered to go on an all-day field trip with Marianna's class. It was quite the experience...all day immersion for me, plus a chance to peek into Marianna's school life. Not only was it exhausting language wise, but they had 5 year olds hiking all day long. I don't think that would have ever happened in the public schools in the states, but it was pretty awesome. Also the kids took part in a crazy ropes course that even I was a bit terrified of. Marianna was pretty much a rock star and did the zip line and a crazy tall ladder and everything. Although I don't agree with everything France does/believes in their school system, they do seem to expect more from the kids in all areas, which I DO think can be a good thing.

Marianna and some of her peeps. The child is a social butterfly that I never was.

This is a view of how many elementary schoolers were there that day. HUNDREDS! It was pretty much chaos at some points...trying to keep my five close enough so that they didn't get lost.

Sounds like something we do with middle and high school youth at retreats here, I can't imagine little kids doing that.

C'est tout un tas d'enfants !

More videos of O. singing French songs please!
