Taking care of baby doll

Last week in the kitchen I found M sitting with a cloth diaper and baby doll in her lap. She was carefully wrapping the baby in the diaper. It was so precious! I don't know if she was pretending to put a diaper on the baby, or just wrapping it up like a blankie, but either way, my heart melted.




I am so blessed in moments like these..thank you Lord!

Menu Plan for the Week of February 9th, 2009

We finally did go out last week...to delicious Japanese food! We also found a little Asian food market next door where we picked up some curry powder and sesame oil for great prices! Mmmmm...now I am craving green tea ice cream...

Breakfasts: banana bread, cereal, oatmeal, homemade donuts, whole wheat orange bread (More with Less), pancakes (made from 1/2 bisquick, 1/2 whole wheat homemade biscuit mix)

Lunches: Leftovers

Snacks: fruit, banana bread, cereal, crackers, cheese

Dinners:

M: Crockpot Perfect Baked Potatoes with Broccoli, beans, cheese, sour cream, and any other fixin's we want!

Tue: Roast Chicken w/salad and mashed potatoes (had dinner at friend's houses instead of having this last week)

Wed: Teriyaki Meatballs (from Freezer) over brown rice and broccoli

Th: Chicken and Rice Soup

F: Homemade Pizza with Cheese and pineapple

Sat: Taco Soup with Fritos

Sun: Curry over rice or a cheesy pasta dish with mixed veggies on the side

Birthday Fun (and Freebies)

What a fun birthday I've been having! Tonight the un-frugal (but rare treat) part of my birthday will be that Daniel and I are going out! We're hiring a babysitter and he's taking me out somewhere (its a surprise) and refusing to let me use coupons:) Too funny.

But I've been taking advantage of all the birthday fun to be had for little or no cost this week. Earlier this week we went to Coldstone and got my birthday icecream (we also had a punchcard from earlier coupon/giftcard purchases which we used to get Daniel a free icecream too!). Last night we picked up a free birthday dvd rental from Hollywood Video and in the next week or two we'll use the free birthday burger from Red Robin.

My Bella Band is on the way!

Ever since I was expecting M I've wanted a Bella Band. I am always struggling to keep my pants in the right ~ahem~ position with my ever-increasing belly! I've heard for most people, these are a lifesaver!

Today I was thinking how much I still wanted one, but just didn't want to pull any money from other budget items or savings for one. I checked the mail and guess what...a birthday check from my grandma was there! It covered all but $1 of the cost of one in the perfect color and size from Amazon.com! What a blessing:)

Jars and Lids: another frugal toy

M discovered my stash of old glass jars the other day. I hate to throw them out but haven't found a way to recycle or reuse them yet since our 4-plex doesn't have recycling. She has spent long periods of time trying on the various lids and putting things in the jar. Its almost an educational toy! :)

Please excuse our pantry area...its the scariest part of the house with daddy's old bike, all our non-perishable food and the laundry:)
