Bulk yeast...where do you buy it?
Where I live in the NW, there aren't any easily accessible health food stores, nor any big box stores that carry yeast in bulk. Does anyone have a good source that can be found online? I have searched before, but didn't know what a good price was, or if it was reputable. Thanks for any ideas you can give!

I use this SAF yeast.
It is 5.95 a lb.
I don't know if that is expensive, but it is really neat because you don't have to proof it. It is instant.

Hope that helps! I'll be watching to see if you get any good tips on this.
I live on the east coast now, and not near a Costco...but I thought they sold yeast in large quantities for a good price??? Anyone been there lately???
Our Costco doesn't carry it...so sad!
Rach, Costco here in town has it. You should get some this weekend when you are here.
Rachael! Buy some when you are home for the weekend! I know we had it! Or have your mom pick it up before you get here if you won't have enough time.
WHAT? My Costco has it (totally hidden, but I found it!) and was soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cheap!! Check again, or ask someone there to look for you. Or come to mine! ;)
PS: I just tagged you :)
My sister lives in the NW and she gets SAF yeast at Winco. (I think I spelled that right) Do you have those near you? If so you might check there.
Brooke and Denaye: I called my mom to have her try to pick some up at Costco so we can take it home this weekend...you guys are awesome!
lynn: we have no Winco, at least in my area. Thanks for the idea though!
CC: I am going to ask next time I am at our costco again, just in case. Someday we'll figure out if we live near eachother;)
I was just wondering how you made out with the yeast. Did you get some at Costco?
If you don't mind me asking, how much did you get and how much was it? Oh, and what kind? Thanks, appreciate the info.
Hi Candace! I DID end up getting yeast at Costco! Actually a friend of ours got some and the same day my parents got some for us...so they'll return theirs. I was told it was under $4 for the 2lb cake of it. I am definitely going to bake more now! I wonder if anyone knows how to store it to make it last longer? I just have it in the fridge now.
Thanks, that is a great deal! I'll have to find someone who goes to Costco.
I think you can put in the freezer, but not positive.
azurestandard.com services the west and northwest and are awesome.
