Easy Whole Wheat Pizza w/pics

This was adapted from Crystal Paine's pizza recipe. I posted my version of the directions here, but I wanted to give you some visuals to go with it this time (because I know that is so helpful to me!)

This recipe is SO easy and almost foolproof. I think the key is getting the water temperature within the range found below. This is especially important if you use all whole wheat flour like we do.

Easy Whole Wheat Pizza

Crust:
1 TBS yeast
1 cup water (105 to 115 degrees F)
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp salt
2 TBS oil
1 cup white flour
1 ½ cups whole wheat flour (or 2 1/2 cups whole wheat and no white...this is what we do)

Heat water to correct temperature -105-115 degrees F(very important!).

Dissolve the yeast in the water.

Add the rest of the ingredients and stir until combined.

Knead for 5 minutes, adding flour if necessary to make it smooth and elastic.

Roll out into circle (1/2 inch thick) on pizza stone or greased pan. Top with favorite toppings (our current favorite—again thanks for the idea from Crystal is BBQ sauce with cheese and either hamburger or chicken). The pizza shown here is topped with BBQ sauce, cheddar cheese, pineapple and fresh tomatoes.

Bake at 450 degrees for 12-15 minutes.

Serves 4 if you have a veggie on the side (we usually share half for dinner on Friday nights, and save the rest for Saturday's lunch. Delicious, quick and healthier than frozen!

That looks sooooo good! Have you thought of making it vegan? Maybe instead of cheese try sauteed mushrooms or spinach, or maybe some green pepper and onions....
